Albert Einstein once said, “If I had an hour to solve a problem and my life depended on it, I would use the first 55 minutes determining the proper questions to ask.” There is a lot of wisdom in this statement. The quality of the question determines the quality of the answer. What questions have you been asking in your life? Are they questions that point you in the direction of your growth or do they have you going in reverse?
I know I spent a lot of my life asking questions that got me nowhere… asking things like, “Why is this happening to me?” “Why are other people so much luckier than me?” “Why have I been dealt such a bad hand in life?” And you want to know where the answers to these questions got me? They certainly didn’t get me where I wanted to be going.
So, it all begins with the questions you are asking.
If you’ve been following my body of work for a little while, you’ve probably heard me encourage people to “stay in the question.” What I mean by this is sometimes our best learning comes from within. It comes when we really take time to marinate on what we are seeking, what we are looking for. It’s not just about asking the question for the sake of getting the answer from an outside source. You can ask a question and have someone tell you an answer, but that doesn’t mean it sticks with you, that doesn’t mean you learn from it, that doesn’t mean it’s YOUR answer.
So how do you find the answer? I would like to suggest that if you have the awareness to ask the question, you also have within you the awareness to discover the answer. From within. To attain the answer. To make it one with you.
I looked up the definition of the word attain… It means, to succeed in achieving. It is derived from a Latin word meaning to touch. When you are touching something, you are connected with it – it is no longer separate from you. When you ask a question, do you attain the answer, do you succeed in achieving it, do you internalize it and make it one with you? I believe the proof of this is shown in your behavior and your results.
Roddy and I are going to be leading an open Q&A Facebook Live on our Empowered Living group this Friday. I would love for you to join us. I would also strongly encourage you to take some time before Friday evening to think and write out your question. Writing causes thinking. And then stay with it. So, what is the next question for you to ask to move you in the direction of your dreams?
Stay with the question. Ponder it. Think on it.
And join us Friday evening, and perhaps we can help you think on it too. You have the answer within yourself. It is simply a process of uncovering it. And I believe Roddy and I can help you with that.
I believe in you and I believe in your dreams.
